{"id":93,"date":"2003-07-13T16:49:09","date_gmt":"2003-07-14T00:49:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/lianza.org\/blog\/?p=93"},"modified":"2003-07-13T16:49:09","modified_gmt":"2003-07-14T00:49:09","slug":"instant-runoff-voting","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lianza.org\/blog\/2003\/07\/13\/instant-runoff-voting\/","title":{"rendered":"Instant Runoff Voting"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Not exactly like <a href=\"http:\/\/callahan.subaverage.com\/archives\/000330.html\">Callahan&#8217;s system<\/a>, but not unlike it either is a movement to introduce <a href=\"http:\/\/www.instantrunoff.com\/\">Instant Runoff Voting<\/a> into American politics.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><i> Instead of just casting one vote for one candidate, voters rank the candidates: 1,2,3, etc.  If no candidate receives a majority of the #1 votes, the candidate with the least total of #1 votes is eliminated. The second choice votes from these ballots are then transferred to the other candidates. The ballots are recounted, and candidates are eliminated in this fashion until 1 winner emerges with a majority of the vote.<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Worth considering\/supporting, I think.
