This weekend I saw The Hulk, and also re-watched Old School on DVD. What do these movies have in common? Well, the same thing it seems virtually all movies have in common these days: scenes involving a naked man’s ass.

I don’t know or understand if this is a trend in film, but there was a while there where somehow every movie I saw in the theatres had a scene like this. Solaris, 8-Mile, About Schmidt, Narc, even the f’n Matrix Reloaded. I don’t know what audiences these scenes are appealing too, although I do have a few guesses.

After officially becoming a resident of Marlborough, MA and registering to vote, I learn a little more about the political scene here. Well, guess who’s running for mayor? Christopher “The Skunk” Antal, host of a cable access TV show about wrestling is one candidate. Another: Benjamin Sawyer – part time clerk at an adult video store on Main Street.

This is just great. I especially love the quotes form Sawyer like “I’m not a career politician” and “It’s not going to be business as usual.”

What these of course translate to is “I have no idea what I’m doing here” and “check out how badly I screw up this job.”

I put some pictures up from Callahan’s big bash. You will notice there are only a handful of people in each of the pictures. There actually was a good turnout, but as usual the antisocial Goodfellas hung out with one another the whole night, only occasionally interacting with the rest of the guests.

Well, we’re now two weeks away from the most important holiday of the year: Tom’s Birthday. It would probably be a good idea to check out his wishlist and buy him something.

I can now officially recommend the Amazon.com Visa. For a while, they weren’t sending me my gift certificates (they were getting “lost in the mail”) but yesterday they came. $125 in Amazon gift certificates which they owed me since January. With them I was able to pick up a new printer, toaster, and Seasons 1&2 of the Family Guy on DVD and still have money left over.

Depending on your spending (and whether or not you can pay rent via a credit card) you can rack up a good amount of gift certificates through this thing… it’s the typical 1% for regular purchases, but 3% on Amazon purchases for earning gift certificates. So $2500 spent equals $25 GC. Not great, but if you’re just buying stuff you’d buy anyway it’s a good reason to filter purchases through the credit card. It’s always a good idea to slap Upromise on your credit card too, in case you plan on having a kid one day. Free money for doing stuff you’d be doing anyhow.

The Amazon card also offers good integration with Quicken – it will do an automatic download with the one-step update rather than having to manually download a qif or qfx file. Pretty convenient. The APR isn’t that great, but that’s no big deal if you don’t plan on carrying a balance.

Anxiously waiting for the new computer to arrive, I go to fedex.com and type in my tracking number (273314610000034). Today is April 27th (almost April 28th).

“We are unable to connect you with our server. Please retry later.”

That was actually unexpected. When I checked the status earlier today, the best they could do was tell me where it was on the morning of April 23rd (4+ days earlier). Thanks FedEx. This online tracking “service” you provide is fantastic and informative. Even when it works, it gives me old news.

I’ll be in Florida for a few days, so no posts here until Thursday, most likely. Related to the last post though, I did buy a PC here.

I’m shopping around for a new desktop PC. Ideally it has to be really fast, and really cheap. I can pillage hard disks and possibly (if the motherboard supports it) older memory. Any suggestions? I was looking at the AMD barebones PCs here and they looked pretty cheap (especially considering the free shipping).

A pair of Paradigm Monitor 7s and a CC-370 center channel are the speakers, and I was able to get a refurbed Rotel RSK-972 at a decent price for the receiver. Now, as Callahan suggested in an earlier post, I can invite my 3 friends over and we can have a grand ole time.

Actually, speaking of earlier posts, I also picked up a 5-foot LoveSac.

Oh yeah, that would be me. What can I say, the commercial looked cool.
